One month ago, Science Friday’s Science Club issued a challenge. The club asked listeners to observe everything until they noticed something that interested them, to observe that one interesting thing methodically while keeping a record of what they noticed, and then to share the observations with the club. Science Club founding members Ariel Zych and Charles Bergquist say that the listener submissions covered the gamut, from violin physics to the turning of autumn leaves.
Ariel Zych is Science Friday’s director of audience. She is a former teacher and scientist who spends her free time making food, watching arthropods, and being outside.
As Science Friday’s director and senior producer, Charles Bergquist channels the chaos of a live production studio into something sounding like a radio program. Favorite topics include planetary sciences, chemistry, materials, and shiny things with blinking lights.
