The Silky Wonders of Worm Spit

8:44 minutes

From the mandibles of a creepy crawly comes a revolution in biotechnology. It’s worm spit, from the silkworm moth caterpillar, although you may know it by its more common name: silk. Science Friday’s Luke Groskin and Julie Leibach took a lab tour with bioengineers at Tufts University to learn how they are crafting this versatile protein into myriad medical, optical, and bioelectronic materials and devices.
