Ebola Outbreak Continues in West Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO) first learned of the ongoing Ebola virus disease outbreak in West Africa in late March 2014. Since then, the virus has spread from Guinea to Sierra Leone and Liberia and claimed the lives of more than 700 people, making it the deadliest Ebola outbreak on record, according to the WHO. Daniel Bausch, an associate professor of tropical medicine at Tulane University, explains why this outbreak has reached unprecedented proportions and what can be done to end it.
