Explore The Outdoors With SciFri Outside This Fall
On September 28 and October 12, join us outdoors to learn all about a well-loved species of the northeast: American beech trees!
Science Friday has designed a nature experience all about a well-loved species of the northeast: American beech trees! Join us in-person in Cleveland, OH and The Catskills, NY to learn about these local wonders, and how you can help forestry researchers with a bit of your time and keen observation skills. If you’ve ever wondered how the trees in your neighborhood are doing—or even what kind of trees they are to begin with—and how you might be able to help them, this event is for you!
Come ready to walk with our guides through a wooded area on an easy path for about an hour: comfortable shoes, leg coverings, bottled water and a smartphone recommended.
NOTE: Our 10:00am event slot is full! Please RSVP for our 1:00pm event below
Plus, this September, the SciFri Book Club is reading Forest Walking: Discovering the Trees and Woodlands of North America by Peter Wohlleben by Jane Billinghurst. Join our community of readers—it’s a great companion for our nature explorations this fall!
This event series is presented by Science Friday in partnership with Cleveland Metroparks and Catskills Visitor Center.
Join us for an upcoming SciFri Event—live, in-person, and online. Be the first to hear when we’ve got something new and exciting on the calendar by subscribing to our email newsletter.
