Adjusting the Doomsday Clock
Tweet |
| Thursday, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists adjusted the minute hand of its "Doomsday Clock," a measure of the world's vulnerability to catastrophe. Citing a more "hopeful state of world affairs," the group moved the minute hand to 6 minutes to midnight, one minute further away than it was previously. Originally linked mainly to the potential for nuclear apocalypse, the clock now takes into account other dangers such as climate change and threats from emerging technologies. We'll talk about the clock, and its status. |
