Thursday night, the US House of Representatives voted to approve a piece of legislation that would block cuts in Medicare payments to doctors. Without the passage of the bill, doctors would have seen reimbursement for visits by Medicare patients this week 21.3 percent below what the same services earned last week. The Senate acted last week to postpone the cuts -- part of a years-old agreement dating back to 1997. However, until Thursday, the House leadership had attached action on the bill dealing with the Medicare payment cuts to a politically touchy jobs package. We'll get the latest on the situation.
