Things are heating up at the North Pole, so Mr. Kringle night want to explore his options.
The Catlin Arctic Survey team spent three months in the Arctic measuring ice thickness and doing analysis. They found the ice is thinner, and there’s more first-year ice than there has been in the past. In other words, the melting that happens in the summer is going faster than the freezing that happens in the winter. They believe the North Pole could be ice-free within a decade.
Meanwhile, large chunks of ice have been breaking off in Antarctica, so Santa may want to vote against a spot with an ocean view; moving inland seems like a more sensible choice.
