First Shadow Of A Single Atom

What does a single atom look like? David Kielpinski and his group at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia were able, for the first time,  to photograph the shadow of a single atom, an ion of the element ytterbium.  Here is the picture of what that shadow looked like.
 
The research was published in Nature Communications.
