Building the Future of SciFri

A number of listeners have asked us what the end of “Talk of the Nation” means for us.

It’s been a few days since NPR announced their decision to stop producing Talk of the Nation, and in that time we’ve received an outpouring of support. Thanks to all of you who called, emailed, and tweeted to let us know how much you like listening to Science Friday.

Our sympathies are with our colleagues on the Talk of the Nation staff. But we’re excited about the future and look forward to continuing what we do best: reporting on the latest developments in science and technology.

Many of you have asked how this change affects us. First, we don’t plan on going anywhere, and we’ll continue to broadcast each Friday in our current time slot. But there are some things you can do to help keep us on the air in your community:

  • Spread the word by sharing our content with your friends, family, and colleagues so that we continue to grow our audience and meet new people.
  • Reach out to your local station and tell them you want to keep listening to SciFri.
  • Make a donation—either to Science Friday or to your local station—in support of Science Friday.

Ira and the entire staff are tremendously grateful for the support and generosity of our listeners and fans. Keep listening, and we look forward to another 22 years of Science Friday. Thank you!
