It had it’s infamous, mad moments back then – highlighted by the Sterling Hall Bombing – but the folks in Madison always seemed to be ready to speak their minds, whether it was the War in Vietnam in the ’60s and Richard Nixon or the protests against Gov. Scott Walker this time.
I have many times wondered where that independent spirit of the Age of Aquarius had gone. What happened to all those idealistic young folks in Berkley and Madison who were mad as hell and weren’t going to take it anymore?
Well, maybe many of them became teachers and educators, worked their whole lives in schools and universities, waiting for a moment to speak out once again.
